Here is something that i have thrown together out of a few old prefabs i made and some random stuff i added or changed. Thing is called jm_smokey but thts only for now. Would like to hear some ideas for diff. jumps or whatever comes to your mind. Also im not sure about a theme for the map cause a good look for a map nvr was my strongest point^^(i think for this one it may actually even be a BIT too late now).

Well, im past 2000 brushes now, ( cheap due to 2 mazes and Gaps ) so i think ill stop putting random things together and rather do lights / check some jumpsizes and have few testruns. Dont worry, it wont be the last to come so whatever i may miss can be in later versions/maps
As far as the easy/hard discussion goes im on both sides. ME I may be able to do a jump backwards, well good for me then BUT someone else may not be able pass at all. Result will be votespam for "noobmaps", nading etc. im sure we all know that sort of stuff.
To solve this ill EITHER: put out the map like soviet_stronghold and release additional harde/easy if needed (svt_stronghold_v2 /_easy/_hard)
or do something like in pipeline (personally dont think its too smart cause this map is too big to have it all 2x in 1). |

you should make to versions a hard one and an easy one.....
like in for example:milestone!
The pro version of it exists in nearly everay jump server but is nearly never played though I personally like it VERY much and play it quite often...fo if you would make 2 versions the hard one will be played by good jumpers but the noobs wont vote for it only for the easy one so....... _________________ Vote yes for Obama! |

Had some testruns on my current map today, seems ok so far.
Im really starting to think 2 versions should indeed be the best solution (put easy in pub server rotations/vote if you want the hard map).
Status of the map so far: roughly 2500 brushes used. (2500-3000 in final)
All the parts and rooms are put together. (Map works / Added Gaps -270)
Need to add few models like graves/tombstones in first maze. (minor)
Have to add few more numbers on gaps. (so ppl know where they are at)
Biggest "problem" is probably my lighting of the map but im sort of new to that. (I may just keep it since it works and just isnt too pretty but maybe ill bug one of you with that shortly, so beware)
If you could have a look and tell me what you think ill be glad cause i want to hear ppls opinions BEFORE i upload anywhere for public use or whatever.
I will upload on RS tomorrow after work and give you a link so you can test and tell me what you think. |

big trouble
Finished a (at least i thought it might be) playable version of my map. Seems all fine.
Compiled the map file, still all looking good.
Created folder Structure (mp_smokey/maps/mp and mp_smokey/mp) and so on, paste my BSP, GSC, ARENA files in them and zipped + renamed the whole thing to mp_smokey.iwd.
(As i said b4, i never released stuff so i didnt even know how to make an .iwd and its well possible i messed up right here!?).
I just wanted to start being glad i made it when during the loading of my map an error message told me:
Script Compile Error (see console for details).
Looking in console just gives me like 100 pages of pretty much random gibberish.
Any ideas anyone? Would really like to get this thing done now that i spent so much time on it.
edit: NOT good: i tried with a simple empty room + skybox with just a spawn and spec in the room and got the same result so i hope its at least not my map itself |
